To reach our goal we drive up to Chania. Balos is located on the west side of the now uninhabited island Gramvousa. Balos forms a lagoon between Gramvousa and the west Cape Tigani (translated: “pan”) with a northern connection to the open sea.

The boat trip to the beach of Balos leads along the Gramvoussa isle and offers a unique view to the bizarre coastline. From the sea you can discover large caves. After 1 1/2 hours of driving the boat makes a stop at the small island Gramvoussa.

Take a short walk to the Venetian Fortress. The panorama in the lagoon of Balos Beach is unique. When the Venetians had left the island attracted pirates the castle. From there they planning their raids. The boat leaves you about 2 hours before it goes into the lagoon of the beautiful beach Balos. The water is getting flat, the color turquoise. Now you have 3hours to spend your time for a great beach holiday on the gently sloping beach Balos. For a snack / thirst there is a tavern.
